I'm sorry to hear this. I am not an expert on this at all and do not know if this is a sign of dementia even - but this link might help you: alzheimers.org.uk/site/

RE: Stonewall Top 100, Posted 24 Aug 2009

It would be nice to be able to cite this site, but we can't really use it as a fully working example. However, it does exist and the intent is strong and positive - what do people think?

Stonewall Top 100, Posted 19 Aug 2009

The time is fast approaching for our submission to be in the Top 100 Employers. In fact it needs to be by the 4th Sept. Do any of you have any views about the submission or areas you can help with? Let me know Paul Head

Grandfather, Posted 17 Aug 2009

Hi, my grandfather is currently undergoing a very stressful situation and is exhibiting signs on dementia. He told some of his stories to his doctor and is now convinced that the doctor 'hates' him. My grandfather is an extremely intelligent and creative man - I can't believe this has happened to him. It is not fair. He is so convinced that he is right and the doctor is wrong. I don't want to become another 'enemy ' of him, but it's not in my nature to prorogate a lie like this either. What can I do?

Benefits Advice, Posted 28 Jul 2009

I know that the Trust once employed someone as a benefits advisor for our service users. Does this service still exist and would they be able to advise staff? If not. Where can such advice be aquired?

RE: Hearing aid, Posted 13 Jul 2009

Hi, I have been wearing a hearing aid for most of my life. I used to wear NHS behind-the-ear hearing aids, but about six years ago I got funding from Access to Work (AtW) for a digital in-the-ear hearing aid. The cost was split between my employer and AtW, I didn't have to pay anything. It's worth finding out.

RE: fibromyalgia/arthiritis, Posted 8 Jul 2009

Hi Sharon I'm the creator of this network so first thing - please tell your colleagues to get online and start the traffic going. Second, I don't know what your condition is exactly but as far as arthritis is concerned, I discovered I had arthritis in a number of places about 10 years ago. It was a real shock because I did not associate myself with a physically limiting condition. Of course I tried to ignore it but I had to stop playing soccer because of groin pain from a hip. Then I had a nagging pain while walking and had to get some help - I went to a chiropractor who was a bit nuts and then found one who was reliable - realigning the body can help a lot with pressures. Then I started playing squash - and had to go to the chiropractor more often as a result! He told me to stop the squash for a better quality of life - which I did, regrettably. I also went to an acupuncturist which seems to help a lot - most of my pains vanished and I felt pretty good, which I still feel...

Hi all I have been interested in promoting knowledge and information about the needs of Irish people with mental health difficulties. Is anyone out there interested in getting involved. Or is there anyone doing any work in this area. Sharon

It's normally something I avoid - however I am proud to see that Nottingham is hosting a march this year - that is something that is long overdue and may tempt me out of the house :)

RE: Promoting disability support, Posted 10 Jun 2009

This is excellent. I think now is the time for us to do a follow up survey on the Values Exchange, where the original survey was posted. Are you willing to help me set up some questions for this? I can get it publicised, and would like to do that.

RE: Who does the forum apply to?, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Hi This forum applies to anyone - we want it to be a communication vehicle for all with an association with the Trust. At the moment users have to use a Notts NHS address but if this is a problem and we have genuine interest we can easily fix that. Please let me know how Catherine Conchar and I can help you. Nottingham Pride 25th July- Will you be there?, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Anyone else going from the Trust? The Trust will have a stall there so look out for us. It's on the 25th July this year at the Arboretum. It will start off with a march around the City entitled Walk With Pride which leaves the Forest Ground at 11am followed by the main event from 12 at the Arboretum. For more information please see www.nottinghampride.co.uk

Trans (gender) Briefing, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Has anyone had the chance to read the Trans briefing on the Trust intranet or internet site? It is a management summary from the Department of Health Report, picking out some of the key recommendations. It would be interesting to know how others think we are doing in the Trust and what else we can do.

Culturally appropriate food- religion and belief, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Does anyone have any guidance I can have which i can pass to a local event organiser which outlines some of the key considerations in the provision of food for a multi-cultural event e.g. keeping fish separate from meat and both fish and meat separate from vegetarian, the provision of halal, kosher, vegan etc? Thanks

RE: Promoting disability support, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Hi David The meeting went well- we have ensured that many of the key comments have been integrated within the Trust's Strategic Equality and Diversity priorities and there has been some considerable movement on some of the actions e.g. - clarification of where funding for dyslexia assessments come from - an electronic staff record validation is coming out soon to all Trust employees, following consultation with the Disabled Staff Steering Group (DSSG) - participating in and commitment to the Disability Standard 2009 Benchmarking Exercise - Signing up to the Mindful Employer Charter - establishment of the MIN for employees who have mental health issues - the ongoing work of the Disabled Staff Network and Steering Group which are both growing from strength to strength - reformatting of the standard corporate reporting template to left justification - all corporate reports now come to the DSSG for comments prior to adoption etc Hope this helps- TJ am I missing...

RE: Hearing aid, Posted 10 Jun 2009

Kay If you have not already done so I think the best person to go and see would be your doctor, then he/she can refer you to the appropriate specialist or specialist supplier. I think it would also be worthwhile having a conversation with Heather Porter in Education and Training who may be able to point you in the direction of receiving support from Access to Work.
